The Tunnel Springs Trail presents a challenging but steady ascent (or descent) on the south face of Observatory Mesa. The trail passes through ponderosa pine forest, extending between the Railroad Springs neighborhood and the mesa top. An underpass takes you safely across the railroad tracks. The trail intersects Mars Hill Trail at the top of the mesa and Railroad Springs Trail just south of the railroad tracks. All three trails are part of the Flagstaff Urban Trails System, a city-wide network of non-motorized, shared-use pathways.
You can access Tunnel Springs Trail from Mars Hill Trail or from the Railroad Springs Trail.
