Tatamy Trail begins in West Easton and heads north to Tatamy Borough, primarily along a former railroad corridor. On its southern end, it meets the Palmer Township Recreation Trail, which connects the towns of Palmer and Bethlehem on nearly 8 miles of rail-trail.
The trail is paved and tree-lined with much of it following Bushkill Creek. Along the way, it passes through several parks (from south to north): Meuser, Hackett (where you’ll find some steeper grades), Penn Pump, Penn’s Grant Open Space, and Mill Race Park.
Parking and restrooms are available in Hackett Park (along Hackett Avenue) in Easton and parking can be found in Mill Race Park (Newlins Mill Road and Bushkill Drive) in Palmer.
I started in Easton at the Aldi on Freemansburg Ave. I will never start here again! Need to cross Freemansburg Ave and William Penn, neither are bike friendly cross walks. Signage is poor in this area. Next is a big hill I needed to walk up and come to a park. Signage poor, go left down hill. At bottom no signage, cross the road and you should seen bike path. Trail is flat and beautiful from here. Next time I will start at the spot by crayons buildings.
Biked the whole thing both ways and got a nice workout
This trail is one big downhill ride from 27th street parking lot to Riverview Park. We decided not to go back around the loop to 27th street but took a shortcut back on roads. Constant incline. We prefer occassional up and down hills, not one big 5 mile hilll.
Also signage is horrible. We liked the D&L trail from Riverview into Eason much better.
We rode this trail on a Wednesday morning in mid June. Parked at an Aldi grocery store at the south end of the trail. You can add about 1/2 to 3/4 mile my riding east on the West Easton Bike Trail which ends where the trail turns hard right and climbs a short steep incline. Riding north we noticed signs for the Wilson bike trail, at first I was confused when a sign read "Trail Ends" but then realized that the "trail" continued on the other side of the road . Once the Palmer trail enters from the left you start seeing mileage signs, they are from the start of the Palmer trail where it meets the D&L Trail. The road crossing at William Penn Highway is poorly marked as the trail jogs slightly to the left. We were happy for our granny gears when we got to the HILL near mile marker 7.5 and really glad for our disc brakes when we got to the steep decent just before mile marker 8.5. After the Crayola place the trail is beautiful, lots of views of the creek and several parks. We really enjoyed this trail.
I always live trails that I can bring my little one along. We parked at Hackett park and walked a few miles. Lots of dogs not leashed and owners who don't pick up their messes.
We combined this trail with the Palmer Township trail. What a workout. This is great for anyone looking to get a decent workout. We started at Tatamy parking area just off Main Street. The 1st few miles were easy until we got toEnglwood St. The trail ended kind of got a little confused but realized the very steep hill was a continuation of the trail. After another short uphill then a long down hill a few street crossings we made it to Palmer Township trail. All downhill from there. The ride back was a real workout. Well worth the leg workout. Total mileage out and back 26 miles. All paved even though there were bumps and cracks was good. Made for easier uphill pedaling. If you want to test your endurance good ride. The Palmer trail runs right into the D&L so you can really make a day of it.
I started at 725 south 27th St East Easton and rode to Hackett Park, lots of road crossings and way to hilly for me,I had had enough so I did a U turn and had a great ride on the Palmer Township Recreation Trail. When I got home I did read a few more reviews and it looks like I gave up to soon. I would not do from Easton to Hackett Park again. The Tatamy end my be a good ride but coming from Delaware I will never know.
Did this trail from high school to Tatamy and back. hills at Hackett's Park were unexpected. after the steep hill the trail was flat along the creek , paved and immaculate clean trail. Easton has the best trails in the Lehigh Valley
This is a very nice trail, well maintained. The trail heads are a little hard to find, there are no markers. Road crossings are not biker friendly, cars do not seem to yield so be extra careful at crossings. I wish this trail was twenty miles longer, lots of nice scenery along the stream.
Great trail... the wife and I ride it often.
