Southpointe Trail Description

The Southpointe Trail extends from Densmore Park to the Tierra Williamsburg Trail in Lincoln's Southern Hills neighborhood. This suburban route passes by Williamsburg Village, one of the city's most distinctive neighborhoods, and SouthPointe Pavilions, an outdoor mall. Those wishing to continue north through the heart of Lincoln can hop on the popular Rock Island Trail, which runs along a former railroad corridor beginning at the Southpointe Trail's western end.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking for the Southpointe Trail is available at Densmore Park where the trail meets S. 14th Street and the Rock Island Trail. Additional parking can be found near the trail's eastern end at SouthPointe Pavilions, located at the intersection of S. 27th Street and Pine Lake Road.

Southpointe Trail Reviews

Really fun

This trail is just really fun to ride. It starts at the water fountain intersection adjacent to the YMCA by Densmore Park. If you’re coming from the Rock Island Trail northwest and want to make it a round trip, you’d turn southeast onto this trail, rather than continuing to Hell’s Gate Bridge on Rock Island and ending up at the limestone Jamaica North Trail. This trail is fun because even though you’re next to roads most of the time, the pavement is in really good shape and allows you to ride highspeed, as well as downhill for a good portion of the way. It also runs right next to Southpoint, and there’s a little sidewalk detour that takes you down under the parking garage if you want to make a stop at the mall. After that, it turns north and becomes the Tierra/Williamsburg Trail.
