Niver Creek Trail Description

The Niver Creek Trail winds through Thornton, a northern suburb of Denver, connecting parks, riparian areas and open space inhabited by prairie dogs, coyotes, numerous bird species, and other wildlife. Along the way, you can access Pecos Park, Huron Green Park and the Niver Creek Open Space.

From the trail's eastern terminus, you can easily continue your journey on the Niver Canal Trail. Make the connection on the east side of Washington Street, only a few blocks away. That trail travels about 2 miles along the Coronado Parkway down to the South Platte River, where you can pick up the 28-mile Platte River Trail.

Parking and Trail Access

The trail can be accessed from Pecos Park at 96th Avenue and Orangewood Drive at the northwest endpoint and at the southeast endpoint at Grant Street near 84th Avenue. Limited street parking is available at Pecos Park and along adjoining streets such as Croke Drive and Conifer Road.
