Mingo Trail Description

The Mingo Trail comprises two separate segments in the city of Tulsa.

The northern segment runs 5 miles between 41st Street and I-244 where the paved trail dead ends. The best access is from Hicks Park (E. 35th St. and Mingo Rd.). The trail links parks and neighborhoods on Tulsa's east side. Some crossings go under the road but one at-grade crossing warrants caution: at Hicks Park E. 35th Street and Mingo Road.

The southern segment runs 3.4 miles between Memorial Road and 81st Street; the best access is at the Tulsa Community College Southeast Campus (81st St. and US 169). At the southwest end of the Mingo Trail you can continue across S. Memorial Drive on the Creek Turnpike Trail. Use caution at the two at-grade crossings: 91st Street near the hospital and Mingo Road between 91st Street and 101st Street.

Parking and Trail Access

For the northern segment, parking is at the Metcalfe Recreation Area on Skelly Dr. (near 21st St. and I-44). You can also park in the cul du sac at the end of 94th E. Ave. near 27th St. and at Hicks Park (Mingo Rd. at E. 34th St.). Southwood Baptist Church (41st & 102nd East Ave.) allows parking at the far end lot.

For the southern segment, you can park at the Tulsa Community College Southeast Campus (10300 E. 81st Street); restrictions may apply.

Mingo Trail Reviews

Could be a vary good trail.

This could be a very nice trail IF the city would maintain it as well as they do River Parks. It is fully paved or asphalt, but some of the asphalt is in bad shape. The main downfall is the homeless camps and all the trash they bring along with them. Under almost every bridge there is trash and broken glass. By each park, Boeing and Hicks, there will be trash and broken glass. I ride this trail 90+ days a year and am always saddened by its condition.

The Northern half looks very nice, however it is not asphalt as reported but appears to be mostly gravel.

Not a Bad Ride

My husband and I just recently took a leisurely ride on our new bikes on this trail. We started behind a park near 31st and Mingo and went both south and north. Very pleasant path, a little open and exposed to the sun. If you take this trail, bring plenty of water. We were hoping it went south of 41st Street, too, but it did not appear to.

Peaceful

Mingo trail is a enjoyable run/bike. Fairly flat for the majority, runs along Mingo Creek the entire way. Takes you through 3-4 different parks along the way which also have loop trails in them. Rarely will you see more than 10 people using it at 1 time. Quite a bit of wildlife to see along the way as well.
