The Merchantville Bike Path gently oscillates through Merchantville Borough, paralleling Chestnut Avenue. The paved 1-mile trail provides a pleasant route dotted with tall pines and leafy shade trees through residential neighborhoods leading to a busy commercial area on its east end.
The rail-trail is part of The Circuit, an interweaving network of trails in the Philadelphia and Camden area.
A large parking area is available along Chestnut Avenue toward the east end of the trail.
Loved the ride. Ride alongside a quiet street with older homes. Opportunity to grab something to eat or drink at the station, main St., Or brewery all right on the path. Please be careful of low hanging branches if riding.
Great spot for walking or jogging, nicely paved path. Several benches, a gazebo, and some garden areas along the route.
I have been a resident of Pennsauken for over 25 years and I love this trail. I take my dog for his daily walk from one end to the other almost every day. My only complaint is the snow/ice removal in the winter. This is a major hazard. I slipped and broke my ankle using the trail March 2014. Other than that, I will continue to use the trail daily.
Being a resident of Merchantville for many years, I have used this trail often and enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to it extending toward Maple Shade and beyond. This has the potential to be a beautiful route and hope that it doesn't fall to the wayside. The need for these safe pedestrian routes grows more obvious when considering the future of a post carbon society.
