The Marquette Pioneer Trail in tiny Marquette, Kansas, opened for use in 2013. The trail, which is surfaced with asphalt millings, primarily occupies a former railroad corridor spanning the town’s width, although an on-road portion takes trail users through the heart of the community. The Wolverine Loop nature trail connects to the Marquette Pioneer Trail east of the metal grain elevators and encircles a local sports complex.
Be sure to check out the Washington Street Historic District—a block of 19th century stores lovingly restored—as well as the Range School Museum, Marquette Museum and Kansas Motorcycle Museum, all clustered downtown on Washington Street.
Parking for the Marquette Pioneer Trail can be found at the sports complex on Harold Street.
This is a nice, short trail. We walk our dog on it almost daily. Flat terrain, both woods and open fields. The trail also connects to the disc golf course in Marquette.
