Ballston Spa's Jim Tedisco Fitness Trail spans 0.5 mile between Front Street and Prospect Street on what was once a railroad bed.

The third ride in the October 26th 2007 trip report above was on the Jim Tedisco Fitness Trail, which is pitifully short (1/2 mile). It dead-ends on both ends in missing bridges. Nothing left of the railroad except the bridge abutments. Better something than nothing, I guess. So, I extended the ride by tracing the route of the railbed south from the missing bridge. Eventually I found tracks!
This is a pleasant (very) little trail which would only be good for a very short stroll, but not much else. It's called a 'fitness trail', but, at 0.4 miles, is way too short for that. It's certainly not suited for bicycles, as there is a steep stairway to negotiate at the southern end. There is direct street access on the northern end only.
On the plus side, what little there is is pleasant - a very forested trail just a few blocks from the center of Ballston Spa.
