The Decatur Greenway is an extensive collection of trails linking parks and other amenities on the eastern side of Decatur, Indiana. Begin your journey at the loop around Adams Memorial Hospital, where the trail continues northwest on a former Erie Lackawanna Railway corridor to American Legion Park on Winchester Street. The popular park offers a volleyball net, picnic shelter and playground equipment.
From just north of the park, the Decatur Greenway extends east along an abandoned Norfolk Southern (formerly Nickel Plate Road) corridor to a stunning doublewide iron truss trestle over the St. Marys River. North of the trestle, the trail continues along the eastern bank of the river to Jackson Street. On the western bank of the river, the trail extends south from the trestle through Kekionga Park, a 50-acre stretch of open space popular with boaters and hikers. A trip around the pond at the southern end of the park leads trail users back to the Adams Memorial Hospital loop.
Parking for the Decatur Greenway can be found at Kekionga Park off Kekionga Park Road; at the southernmost tip of the trail on Mercer Avenue (near the Kekionga Park pond); and along W. Oak Street at American Legion Park.
Nice paved trail along the river; across a railroad bridge; thru town; around Hospital and several lakes/ponds.
