Creek Turnpike Trail Description

The Creek Turnpike Trail parallels the Creek Turnpike between Riverside Parkway (south of E 96th St.) and Memorial Road. The urban trail is an important travel corridor for pedestrians and cyclists and links neighborhoods, city parks and shopping districts. Though relatively flat, the trail does rise over several road crossings, making for a workout on bike or foot.

You can access Tulsa's popular Hunter Park along the trail. The park has an 18-hole disc golf course, fishing pond, walking trail, playground, covered picnic pavilions and basketball courts. You can also park here to access the trail.

At the west end, the Creek Turnpike Trail joins the Riverparks East Bank Trail. On the east the trail ends a three-way junction with the Liberty Trail and the Mingo Trail.

Parking and Trail Access

Park at Sheridan Rd. (no restrooms), Hunter Park (91st St. between Sheridan Rd. and Yale Ave.) and at the southwest corner of 96th St. and Riverside Parkway (with access to the East Bank Trail).

Creek Turnpike Trail Reviews

Ride my bike from the liberty trail to the turnpike trail. Great ride!

Great running trail

Versatile, can be a short 4 mile run or make it a half marathon run (or more) as it connects to the River Park trails. Wooded at parts and sometimes a little loud bc proximity to the highway but pleasant and pretty. Some hills sprinkled in but otherwise flat; beware of narrow paths and bikers going too fast and the occasional close call of being clotheslined by dog leashes lol.

scenic south Tulsa

Way back nestled in the woods this is a beautiful short trail connecting other longer trails (river parks and Mingo and liberty trail). It’s somewhat hilly and curvy in areas. It’s has one under bridge area that is often a little muddy or wet where u must slow down. Between main streets of Sheridan and Yale there is 180 degree cut back to get under bridge. Otherwise u may find yourself at Hunter Park.

Safe and Pretty

Several challenging hills but scenic. This trail connects riverside trails with Mingo valley.

Tough in spots but doable

This is one of my favorite trails in Tulsa but it can be challenging. When headed East around the Harvard Hill (if you ride this, you'll know what I'm talking about), you must ensure you are in low gears before you hit the hill or else you'll be walking This is a tough Spot for me as my dad had a fatal heart attack on this hill. The Harvard Hill is no joke but definitely satisfying once you conquer it! The rest of the Creek Trail is very well maintained, has pretty scenery and is HIGHLY enjoyable. I would not recommend this trail for beginners as some of the Hills can seem extreme.

(Note: I would consider myself an intermediate rider (I ride 40-50 Miles at a pop), so keep that in mind when reading my review.
