Just south of downtown Colorado Springs, the Bear Creek Trail provides a short connection from Bear Creek Regional Park to Interstate 25. On the other side of the highway, you can pick up the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail to head north to the Colorado College campus and United States Air Force Academy, or south along a creek to the El Pomar Youth Sports Park.
While not necessarily scenic (the trail sits between a Walmart Supercenter and car dealerships), the path does lead to Bear Creek Regional Park, where you can enjoy views of the foothills as you travel through a picturesque expanse of open land dotted with ponderosa pines and scrub oak thicket. The park also offers athletic fields, playgrounds and a nature center.
Parking can be found in Bear Creek Regional Park (245 Bear Creek Road) at the west end of the trail.
Not to hard or strenuous. Good for quick walk/run or with your dog.
