The Everson section of the Bay to Baker Trail runs for more than 1.5 miles from the unincorporated community of Strandell to Everson's downtown along an abandoned rail corridor. The trail is adjacent to Mission Road and Everson Road for its entire route and crosses the Nooksack River with a separated path on the existing vehicular bridge. Everson is a quaint town not far from the Canadian border that was developed around large dairy farms and the logging industry.
The Bay to Baker Trail will cover 74 miles when complete, running between Bellingham and the Mount Baker ski area. Another 7-mile segment between Maple Falls and Glacier is complete, and an additional 1.4 miles is open for use in Bellingham.
Parking for the Everson section of the Bay to Baker Trail can be found at either City Hall or the library on W. Main Street/SR 544. From there, take the road west a short distance to the trail's northern endpoint at the intersection of Park Drive and Everson Road.
