79th Street Path Description

Although only a mile long, the 79th Street Path connects important recreational amenities in Lenexa, a southwestern suburb of Kansas City. The paved, east-west route parallels its namesake roadway through a pleasant residential area.

On the path's western end, you can hop on the 2-mile SMP Paved Trail to travel through Shawnee Mission Park, where you'll find sheltered picnic spots, an archery range, a disc golf course, and many other amenities. The park is the largest in the county and also features a scenic 120-acre lake popular for fishing and boating.

The path's eastern end enters Lackman Park. Head north along Lackman Road and you'll soon reach Lackman Road Path, which connects to more parks, shopping areas, and other trails.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available in Shawnee Mission Park (7900 Renner Road) on the trail's western end.
